The Dog Days

Huzzah!!! The web site is up and running!!! I realize it's taken a long, long time, but it's a big job, and I have been busy living my life. I am so grateful for those who have helped make this happen.. There still will be some kinks to work out, and your suggestions will be graciously received.

For those of you who have found a comfort place, a Home in the on-line Forum, be assured it will continue, and I would invite others to find comfort there with the steadfast folks who anchor it. I will, when I can, join in - in this unique community which eases our mutual isolation.

The dog days of August are crawling by, with every now and then a wag of the tail in the shape of changes, just to remind us that life goes on -- with or without us, life goes on. It's terrible-dry here, and I think if I look too hard at the hillsides, they will burst into flame. I know rain will come -- it always does, and then we can hardly remember what sunlight is like...so, I try to stay contented with how it all appears. We are so not in charge, but Nature is so not the Enemy. She shows us always that life and change are one and the same, and you can't hold on to what is already slipping away.

Some things have changed for me, some things have slipped away. Some long relationships have changed in the last years...it seems that sometimes we grow away from one another, we outgrow some things, some places, some people...things really do run their course. It's all ok. It's the way of the world. It's hard to see the bigger picture if you feel small, but good to recognize that it's all part of things coming and going and passing away. Still, something remains, doesn't it? I feel a fresh wind blowing through my life these days. I am "dangerous" again, and it feels good. I am interested in playing new places for new people as well as old and familiar friends and venues. If I've never played in your town, or not in a long, long time, let me know if there's a place for me to play, a place you might suggest, and I'll work on getting there!

I am teaching alot these days and loving it so...readying as we speak for a workshop in DC, just finished one in Austin, Texas, Omeaga at The Crossings, a spectacular place atop the hills overlooking Lake Travis in the Balcones Preserve. Just beautiful there, and I had a high old time, concluding with the construction by my class and by me of a labyrinth made of the stones lying there, ready at hand. We worked like primitive peoples, laboring under the blazing Texas sun, making the ancient spiral of the Hero, leaving it there as a gift for Others. Next summer will find me in N. Carolina at the Swannnoa Gathering, and I'll be teaching two courses in the beautiful San Juans. Watch for info about these and other things on the website.

Also, I've been invited to join a group of powerful, funny, intelligent women next November on the post-election Ms. cruise of the Carribean. That promises to be just the ticket!

One last thing, one last exciting thing is to let you know that I got all my art back, all my music is now all my music, and will be on Wolf Moon Records. Soon, everything will be on CD, and available right here.

Thanks for your patience, and your constancy. I so appreciate your rolling with the changes. I will always be there, I will go through these times, just like you, working hard to stay sane, to write music, to make Beauty in this world. Much love from here...Cris
